As with all my segmented bowls, I began the process of creating the House of Cards bowl by selecting the wood I wanted to use. Following that, I cut the different segments and thinning out some of the pieces.
Next, I made the different segmented rings. Unlike previous bowls, this process for the House of Cards bowl required that I make holes in one ring for the card suit segments. As seen below, I began by developing the different card suit pieces for that segment of the bowl. This involved gluing a guide to each piece, and then I used my scroll saw to cut each piece.

After this, I created the segment ring for these card suit pieces to fit into.
After the completion of this segmented ring, I put together the top ring together.

Finally, I combined all the different rings of the segmented bowl before turning the bowl and smoothing out the rings.
